On the part of the Muguiro family, it was Juan Muguiro y Casi who started the construction of the Palacio de la Isla between 1882 and 1883. On the night of September 23, 1891, a very serious rail accident occurred between the stations of Burgos and Quintanilleja. The Royal Family went to Burgos to attend a Requiem Mass for the victims of the accident on October 13, and they stayed the night at the Palacio de la Isla before they returned to Madrid.
